CEO, Digital, Mobile, Design, Strategy, Music, SFX, Branding, Print

Rioyeti, Portland, OR — March 1997-Current

Rioyeti has been the umbrella that I have been fortunate to operate for the past 15 years in a multitude of capacities, the focus always being the intersection of art, experience, technology and information.

Beginning with sound design for video games and movies, these are projects that are always in the shop, over the years, most recently culminating in commercial scoring as well as some pieces for a film that is soon to be released. My interests in the late 90’s took me into web design, user experience, strategy, coding and development, game design/development, and application design/development. Print, identity and branding is a never ending fascination and it’s impact into a company’s overall image, I have been fortunate to do work that transcends brand’s print mediums and crossed over into the digital experience.

I have managed, maintained and grown a client base that recurs as well as spreads through networking and word of mouth. While managing my own client load, I’ve also spent many years working in a vast array of agencies as a freelancer in a multitude of capacities, Developer, Designer, Art Director, Creative Director, Composer, Print Designer, Interactive Designer, Flash Developer, Front End Developer, Strategist… Agencies that I have worked with have ranged from the boutique to the international scale, the three-person boutique shop that needs a hand to working with teams of people as a collaborator or coordinating to insure a project’s success.I am fully equipped to work both inside and outside of agencies, I understand their processes and structures, and am self-motivated in either instance. My familiarity with large Brand strategy as well as the individual business owner and initiatives have helped craft my skill set in a no nonsense, yet creative way, to achieve results.

While managing and streamlining the day to day processes and activities, I developed a bespoke enterprise level software solution for the company. This software package managed general ledger and all accounting, payroll, inventory (management, tracking, pricing, shipping and receiving), customizable catalog output (print and online), product fulfillment, delivery scheduling as well as employee time recording and vacation/sick leave management.

SKILLS

A people manager for over 25 years and someone that believes the strength and abilities of a company come from the collective talent and experience a team can bring to bear on any set of challenges or problems. I have a passion for strategy and use that to focus the team and the business on the greater work at hand. I am an ambitious team player and a natural leader, with an exceptional ability to work, organize, and direct effectively under pressure. I enjoy opportunities to communicate my experience and use my learning’s to show and teach others while driving the teams and the technology/creativity/business forward. I have taught and lectured at the university level, new media and digital design, and used similar curriculum to consult and coach in specialized team environments. I have written industry compliant and current documentation that has been used as internal Standards and Guidelines, Policies, and Operational Procedures. This documentation has similarly been used in conjunction with external partners and creates a common language for all parties.

I have extensive experience in creating as well as organizing and running teams deploying different types of product deliverables: Web, Back Office Applications, E-Commerce, Software, Games, Social, Marketing Initiatives, Learning Modules/Frameworks, Trade Show and Museum Interactive Kiosks/Displays/Booths, and Digital Signage. I am familiar with several types of development styles and methodologies and tend to use the best fit for the team and type of project.

I use whatever artifacts and assets are called for in the need to communicate and articulate the needs of the business both across teams and as points of illustration to define the work to be done. As an end result I have used many software platforms as well as have made working prototypes to get these points across and delivered. I have axes of choice but am adaptable to the team and environment.

Some languages and databases I have used: HTML, PHP, XML, Perl, Ruby, CSS, MySQL, PostgresSQL, Bash, Elastic Search, Redis, Memecache
